Interested in a great summer job or challenging career as a professional lifeguard? Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you’ll learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard. Led by Red Cross certified lifeguard instructor and veteran waterfront lifeguard Jessie McKeon, the training will equip every attendee with proper response for in-water emergencies at a pool. Successful completion results in a 2-year certification in Lifeguarding that includes first aid, professional-level CPR and AED in one certificate. Digital certificate available upon successful completion of course.
Prerequisites: Must be at least 15 years old and must be able to swim an untimed 350 yards of combined breast stroke and American crawl (freestyle), tread water for 2 minutes, and retrieve a 10 pound weight from a depth of 12 feet.
Trainees should bring all current CPR/AED/First Aid/Lifeguard certifications and come prepared to be in and out of the water with sunscreen, water bottle, towel, athletic swimsuit (please no bikinis), and a comfortable change of clothing for classroom instruction.
